Cones for a Cause (CFAC) is a community-powered charitable organization that provides support and enacts positive change in the Greater Dayton and surrounding areas through awarding micro-grants.
At its inception Cones for a Cause was born out of a desire to provide impactful contributions to local non-profit organizations, where a smaller donation would make a difference. Encouraging guests at Old Scratch to make donations, by way of sweet treat purchases, we could leverage community support to increase the impact of those small organizations.
Some past Cones for Cause recipients include The Femme Aid Collaborative, David’s Place at Daybreak, and Paws4Ability. Overall, Cones for a Cause contributed $115,000 to 60 local non-profits.
100% of donations fund micro-grants for local non-profits. From beds for children in need to guide dog training, these grants fund special projects that aid our community.
Old Scratch Pizza guests enjoy free ice cream cones served in our Downtown and Centerville restaurants and in exchange, the guests have the opportunity to make a donation to the fund.
Old Scratch Pizza and the CFAC program are committed to diversity, inclusion, and equity in our community. We take a non-discriminatory approach when awarding grants and provide an equal opportunity for organizations, and by extension, the people they serve, to access resources that will further their missions. We believe all people, of any ethnicity, race, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, economic circumstance, physical and mental abilities, and philosophy are entitled to services and support that will better their circumstances, leveraging their voice and impact in the Dayton community.
