OSP: CONES FOR A CAUSE

Cones for a Cause is a community powered micro-grant foundation committed to driving social change in the Greater Dayton area.

WHAT IS CONES FOR A CAUSE?

At its inception Cones for a Cause was born out of a desire to provide impactful contributions to local non-profit organizations where a smaller donation would make a difference. Encouraging guests at Old Scratch to make donations, by way of sweet treats, we can leverage community support to increase the impact of those small organizations. 100% of guest donations fund
micro-grants to local non-profit organizations.

Cones for a Cause micro-grants fund special projects that aid our community, and since 2016 the fund has donated over $172,000 to 70 local non-profits. A list of our recent grantees can be found here.

Our focus is directed towards small non-profit organizations that provide the greatest impact to at-risk groups and those lacking access to basic needs and social services.
We will award grants on a rolling basis to ensure our guests’ generous donations are promptly dispensed to the community.
The grants are awarded to organizations in need of funding for special projects, program expansions, capital improvements, or capacity building.

Old Scratch Pizza guests enjoy free ice cream cones served in all our restaurants and in exchange, the guests have the opportunity to make a donation to the fund.

Overview of Grant Details & Process

This grant opportunity is designed to fund qualified grant requests between $100 - $2500.
The grants are designed to fund special projects, program expansions, capital improvements, or capacity building. Not for supporting ongoing budgets or general operating costs.
All applicants will be notified within one month of the submitted application as to whether or not the grant has been awarded.
The size and number of grant awards are directly related to the amount of money made available through Old Scratch Pizza and guest donations to the CFAC program.
A survey will be sent 60 days after the grant is awarded. This will serve as the “final report.”
If a final report is not submitted, the organization will become indefinitely ineligible to apply for a future grant.
